GERNIKA- LUMO
GERNIKA ON FIRE
Every 26 of April in honor of the fallen the town council organizes a performance where people from Gernika take part. They recreate the different stories happened in that horrible day including songs and the soundos of bombs and buildings burning.
GERNIKA FESTIVAL
In August Gernika celebrates its festival. Exactly from the 14th to the 18th of August. There are five days full of activities and party. Different rock bands give their concerts and cooking compettions are very common.
LARGE- HEADED FIGURES AND GIANTS
This traditional figures are usually showed in streets of Gernika. Every festival or important day is perfect to bring them out. Children play and like to tease them. It is worth seeing them how they dance.
ELAI ALAI DANTZA TALDEA
All the Basque Country is esay to find in this little group of basque dances. In their actings you could see all the countries in one and appreciate their elegant suits.
LAST MONDAY OF OCTOBER
As the name says it is celebrated the last Monday of October. You can see all the town full of stalls where they sell all types of products. Also a cheese competition is celebrated and the winner cheese is auctioned.
MARIJESIAK
Marijesiak are celebrated from the 15th to the 24th of December. This tradition of singing carols during the wee hours of the morning, started in the Middle Ages. A group of people walk around the different streets informing that Christmas is coming.
MONDAY MARKET
Every Monday during the whole year a market is organized. The farmers near and from Gernika set up their stalls and sell their products.
